Powder Coating Plant Powder coating is a type of dry coating, which is applied as a free flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts a liquid suspension form. The coating is applied electrostatically permitting excellent wrap-round and coverage in hard to reach areas. The coating is then cured under heat to achieve an instantly durable finish that has been proven to be tougher than wet paint alternatives, allowing our products to be more durable and look better for longer. This process is successfully used in a wide range of industries to both answer solvent emission regulations and provide a higher quality product to the end user and is already utilised in the automotive industry in products such as road wheels, truck bodies & chassis, engine blocks, suspension springs, etc. Concept Trailers/JMF has therefore chosen powder coating in our new production facility as a method of finishing our chassis to meet both our own and our customers environmental targets now and for the future. Through the entire powder coating process the product is moved by a powered conveyor system, allowing excellent repeatability and quality control inspection achieving a high quality and durable finish. The chassis surface is firstly prepared by shot blasting to a high standard before automatically moving through the primer booth. This automatic transfer of product between stages ensures no delay before the application of paint therefore preventing any surface moisture on the raw steel. Advantages of Powder Coating Solvent Free Process Greatly reduced air pollution and waste disposal Safer working environment Improved Quality No drip, run or sag Excellent wrap round of coating Improved durability and protection High resistance to stone chipping Excellent salt spray resistance
